Please note, the following instructions are intended for those who have the proper permissions set to create pages in the portal (i.e., you can see a 'Site Actions' tab in the upper right-hand corner of the page after signing in). If you do not see this tab after signing in and you have a request for a news posting, please use the Web/MyTechLaw Request Form.

If you have any questions, please contact the Law School Help Desk at computersupport.law@ttu.edu.

To create a new Law School News item, please follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the home page of the Law School News site (http://mytechlaw.law.ttu.edu/news/).
  2. If you are not already signed into the intranet, please do so now by clicking on the 'sign in' link in the upper right-hand side of the page.
  3. Click on the 'Site Actions' tab in the upper right-hand side of the page.
  4. Select 'Create Page' from the menu.
  5. Give the new page a title. The title should be the headline of the new item/article. Please note that titles should be capitalized and should not have punctuation at the end, such as a period.
  6. Give the new page a unique filename (URL name). New pages should be named in the following format for consistency and to avoid duplication:
    1. YYYYMMDDLastNameXX
    2. where YYYY is the current year, MM is the current month, DD is the current date, LastName is the last name of the person about whom the new item is referencing, and XX is a number starting with 01 and increasing as necessary to avoid duplication.
  7. Select the style of the new page. Most news items use the first choice, '(Article Page) Article page with body only.' If you have an image to include in the news item, select '(Article Page) Article page with image on left/right.' If you have an exceptionally long article to post, you may want to select '(Article Page) Article page with summary links.' This option will give you an area on the page with a list of links that will allow the reader to jump to lower sections of the page.
  8. Click on the 'Create' button. At this point, you will be directed to a draft version of the new page where you can insert the body of the new item/article.
  9. Compose the body of the article in the pop-up rich text editor dialog box.
  10. Click the 'Save' button in the lower right hand corner.

Your page is now created and available for others to see.
