Get the most out of your searching by using some of these helpful formats:

To find content created by a particular person, use

• author:"John Smith" ("Find all content where the exact value in the author property is equal to John Smith")
• author:Smith ("Find all content where the value in the author property contains Smith") 

To find specific types of documents by a particular person, use

• filetype:pdf filetype:word author:"John Smith" ("Find content where the file type is either a pdf or doc and the exact value in the author property is equal to John Smith")
• filetype:xls author:John ("Find content where the file type is xls and the value in the author property contains John")
